Davenport, Marvin, Joyce & Co., LLP and DMJ Wealth Advisors, LLC today announced the expansion and relocation of its office in Greensboro, North Carolina to a newly constructed office building located inside Green Valley Office Park. The firm and its 44 Greensboro employees will move on Friday, October 17, and be open for business at its new location on Monday, October 20. The firm’s expansion and growth also precede its 60th anniversary in 2009.
DMJ began the project to relocate its offices nearly two years ago when its workforce nearly doubled in less than seven years because of an increase in demand for the firm’s core services in audit and tax, wealth management, healthcare and human resource consulting. With the assistance of Tom Townes of Triad Commercial Properties, DMJ was able to purchase the Green Valley Road property directly from Starmount Company that allowed the construction of the new 30,000 square foot office building, more than twice the size of the firm’s previous office on Battleground Avenue. Mid-Carolina Bank will also occupy the remaining portion of the office building’s first floor with drive-through banking services.
The expansion is particularly welcome given the current national financial environment. Managing Partner Mike Gillis says, “Just as we advise our clients, we felt it was important that our firm stays focused on the best long-term strategies and objectives for DMJ.” Gillis continues, “Along with our locations in Sanford and Burlington, it provides us with a stronger regional presence as we work on behalf of clients throughout North Carolina,” he said.
In response to today’s economic climate, DMJ clients are receiving frequent communications from the firm and employing specialized management consulting services from DMJ’s financial and accounting professionals. DMJ Wealth Advisors, LLC, which has nearly 400 million dollars of assets under its management, has been proactively working with clients to navigate through the current market turbulence. The very disciplined financial plans were designed to take into consideration the impact of bear markets
DMJ Partner Bert Stokes and DMJ Wealth Advisors Partner Sheryl Austin led the firm through the construction and design phase with general contractor Landmark Builders. Sheryl Austin says, “The new DMJ building was thoughtfully constructed to consider energy efficiency, space planning, work flow considerations and large common areas for employees.”
The relocation and new construction also mark DMJ’s conversion to a paperless environment. As a paperless office, DMJ has a more efficient model for collaboration between the CPA’s and their clients, creating more controls and ensuring the integrity of data for years to come. As a result, no space was allotted for antiquated filing rooms in the new building. Moreover, unused office furniture and IT equipment were donated to various non-profit groups for recycling within the community.
The firm’s new address is 703 Green Valley Road, Suite 201, Greensboro, NC 27408. The main phone number will remain the same at 336.275.9886.
