DMJ & Co., PLLC (DMJ) announces that partner, H. Bertrand (Bert) Stokes, III, CPA/ABV, will be retiring from public accounting effective June 30, 2015. Throughout his 35-year tenure with the firm, Bert has been an integral part of the firm and instrumental to the success and growth of DMJ, a Greensboro, NC accounting firm established in 1949. Together, DMJ and Bert have prepared for his anticipated retirement ensuring a smooth transition for clients and professionals.
Bert Stokes is a Greensboro native who began his career with DMJ in 1979. In 1984, he was named a partner and has led the firm’s business valuations practice alongside servicing clients in the construction, real estate, and healthcare industries, as well as all areas of corporate and individual taxes. This year, April 15 marked the completion of Bert’s 35th tax season with DMJ & Co., PLLC.

Bert attained a B.S. Degree in Business Administration/Finance from Western Carolina University and his educational background also includes post graduate studies in accounting at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and completion of the National Tax Education Program of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) at the University of Illinois.
Bert has been an engaged member of this community and made an impact on many organizations through his leadership positions which include serving as a past member of the board of directors and former treasurer of Greensboro Youth for Christ, past president of Wesleyan Christian Academy PTO, and the Vance H. Havner Scholarship Fund. He currently serves as an elder at Friendly Hill Church PCA in Jamestown, NC. Bert also serves on the board and treasurer of the international organization, Trans World Radio.
