GREENSBORO – DMJ & Co., PLLC participated in the NC Association of CPA’s (NCACPA) “100 Days of Service” event on Friday, September 20, 2019, and dedicated a day of service in the communities in which they live and work. Professionals in the Greensboro, Durham, and Sanford offices committed to volunteering their time with such community partners as:

  • SPCA of the Triad – a no-kill shelter that has been rescuing, rehabilitating, and educating since 1994.
  • Goodwill of Central North Carolina – an organization that provides job training, employment placement services, and other community-based programs for people who have barriers preventing them from otherwise obtaining a job.
  • Whitestone – a retirement community that has been in Greensboro for over a hundred years and is open to everyone looking for a secure retirement in a comfortable, welcome setting.
  • Animal Protection Society of Durham (APS) – the Durham County Animal Shelter that relies on donations from individuals and corporations to feed, shelter, and provide medical attention for the nearly 5,000 stray, surrendered, abandoned, abused, and neglected animals they care for each year.

Serving the community is important to DMJ. Throughout the year, DMJ professionals serve and volunteer through committees, nonprofit board involvement, and donate personal time to local organizations. Whether it is a food or supply drive, a holiday giving program, or “polar plunging” for Special Olympics, DMJ is privileged to be involved and give back to the community. Since 2012, NCACPA has celebrated the community service of NC CPAs, accounting professionals, friends, and family through their annual CPA Day of Service. CPA and CPA firms were encouraged to serve the community over a 100-day period and DMJ chose September 20, 2019. DMJ supports the NCACPA through professional membership and has many leaders who serve on NCACPA task forces and committees. DMJ Partner, Mike Gillis, CPA, is currently a member of the NCACPA’s Board of Directors.

Founded in 1919, the North Carolina Association of CPAs has provided exceptional member service for the past 100 years and is the only statewide association for CPAs in North Carolina. Now serving more than 13,000 members in North Carolina, the association is dedicated to observing changes within the profession and ensuring that their members have the resources they need.
