
Laurie D. Williams Named Women Extraordinaire

GREENSBORO, NC - Business Leader Media recognized Laurie D. Williams of Davenport, Marvin, Joyce & Co. LLP (DMJ) as one of the top businesswomen in the Triad area with its 2009 Women Extraordinaire awards. Williams is Manager of DMJ’s Burlington office and performs many of the firm’s audits, reviews, and other attestation engagements. In addition to being a licensed Certified Public Accountant, Williams also holds the Certified Fraud Examiner credential and leads the firm’s Employment Benefit Plan audit practice.
The select Women Extraordinaire honorees were celebrated for their outstanding accomplishments as leaders, innovators, and an inspiration and mentor to others. Williams, who was honored in a ceremony on December 8, 2009, will be featured in the December issue of Business Leader magazine.
Williams attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she earned her B.S. in Business Administration and went on to earn her Certificate of Study in Accounting from Guilford College. Williams holds a three-year position on the board of directors of the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (NCACPA) and previously served two consecutive terms as chair of the NCACPA’s Accounting & Attestation Committee. In addition to her involvement in NCACPA, she is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. Williams is a CPA Ambassador for the AICPA and an alumna of Leadership North Carolina.
