GREENSBORO, NC - Davenport, Marvin, Joyce and Co., LLP (DMJ) is celebrating sixty years of business in the triad community. In 1949, DMJ was established by the firm’s founder P.E. Davenport, as a small two-person accounting firm in Greensboro, NC. Today, DMJ is one of the largest accounting and professional services firms in the Triad and has grown to include ten partners and the wealth management firm DMJ Wealth Advisors, LLC.

To commemorate the firm’s sixty years of business in public accounting, DMJ will hold an anniversary event on May 19, 2009 from 5 to 7 p.m. at its new Greensboro office at 703 Green Valley Road. The celebratory event will include cocktails and hors d’oevres from the era when it all began, the 1950’s.

DMJ’s managing partner, Mike Gillis says, “This is a milestone DMJ celebrates with great pride. With the longevity of six decades in business, we are very much aware that our success has been made possible by the continuing trust placed in us by clients, the unwavering support of the community and the dedication of the people at DMJ.”

Over the last two decades, DMJ has expanded its Greensboro-based operations to include offices in Burlington and Sanford with an array of services to clients in the commercial and private sector that now include healthcare and human resource consulting. In addition to the accounting principles it was founded upon so long ago, the firm now provides a host of specialized services, such as technology consulting, cost segregation, business valuation and financial planning.

In 1989, DMJ joined CPAmerica International, one of the largest and most highly regarded CPA networks. CPAmerica International enables its affiliated firms to pool resources from thousands of CPA professionals around the world and provides their clients with a broad base of quality accounting and experienced consulting on a local level.
During this anniversary year, DMJ will also celebrate the career accomplishments of DMJ partners and employees. DMJ is proud to have over 250 combined years of service from ten partners, seven Leadership North Carolina graduates, and multiple recipients of the Triad’s “40 Leaders Under 40” award and the “Women in Business” award. In addition, the firm’s leadership has served on a number of city, county and state boards and commissions and has held active leadership roles within the industry such as the NCACPA and the AICPA. DMJ leaders have committed many years of service to prominent community and civic organizations such as, the Wyndham Championship, the Kiwanis Club, Special Olympics North Carolina and the Piedmont Business Ethics Awards. Their involvement also extends to the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro and area country clubs. Since 1949, DMJ’s dedicated employees have stood for the values of DMJ, working together to achieve success.
