February, 1, 2010

Arthur M. Winstead, Jr., CPA
GREENSBORO, NC -Arthur M. Winstead, Jr., CPA, a partner with Davenport, Marvin, Joyce & Co., L.L.P. (DMJ), has been named the national accounting and auditing consultant-director for CPAmerica International, one of the world’s largest associations of independent CPA firms.
CPAmerica’s A&A consultant-director offers guidance and varying levels of consultation and engagement support to CPAmerica’s 80 member firms across the United States, as well as provides program management in coordinating A&A resources for member firms. “The A&A consultant-director will provide the leadership and coordination of all A&A objectives and goals of our member-driven association,” Winstead said. “That is obviously circular. We will complete that circle by continuing to hold our accepted, proven tradition and belief of ‘improving through sharing’ by maximizing the opportunities to share all of our collective talents and resources.” Winstead will also coordinate A&A matters with CPAmerica’s international Crowe-Horwath Alliance. The CPAmerica/Crowe Horwath Alliance represents more than $3 billion in firm revenues worldwide.
Winstead has held several state and national positions in the A&A field. He has served as a member of the AICPA Standards Board, the senior technical standard-setting body of the AICPA, and was president of the North Carolina Board of CPA Examiners, which is the North Carolina CPA Regulatory Board. He was a team captain for the AICPA’s Private Companies Practice Section peer reviews throughout the country. He also chaired CPAmerica’s A&A Executive Committees.
Winstead earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business with a concentration in Accounting from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He started with DMJ in 1978 and became a partner in 1984. He is a general services partner in the Greensboro office and is the firm-wide accounting and auditing partner.
