GREENSBORO, NC- Davenport, Marvin, Joyce & Co., LLP (DMJ) is pleased to announce the promotion of three new partners to the firm. Stacy M. West, CPA; Shirley B. Weigel, CPA; and Laurie D. Williams, CPA, CFE, CFF have been named partners effective January 1, 2011. “Our partners are long standing members of our community and are dedicated to the profession, exceptional client service, and the growth of our firm. Over the years, Stacy, Laurie, and Shirley have exemplified those qualities, and it is particularly exciting to welcome them in their new roles as DMJ Partners,” says DMJ Managing Partner, Mike Gillis, CPA.
New Partner Profiles
Shirley B. Weigel, CPA (Partner, Greensboro Office) is originally from Durant, Oklahoma. She is a graduate of Southeastern Oklahoma State University with a B.S. Degree in Accounting and Management. She moved to Houston, Texas, and upon graduation, entered private industry where she eventually became chief accountant for a group of oil and gas companies in Texas. Among other duties, she was responsible for the preparation of consolidated financial statements of the affiliated group of companies. Shirley joined Davenport, Marvin, Joyce & Co., LLP in September 1990. Since that time, she has worked in the accounting and auditing department. She is responsible for planning and supervising engagements of various businesses in the areas of distribution, non-profit organizations, manufacturing, professional services, and construction. Shirley is a member of the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Stacy M. West, CPA (Partner, Greensboro Office) was born in Minnesota, but grew up in North Carolina. She attended Greensboro College, where she earned a B.S. Degree in Business Administration & Economics, and Accounting. Stacy joined DMJ in 1996, performing many of DMJ’s audits, reviews, and other attestation engagements. Stacy is experienced in all phases of accounting and taxation. She is responsible for planning and supervising engagements of various businesses and organizations in the areas of distribution, non-profit, manufacturing, professional services, and construction. Stacy’s greatest professional focus is solving client issues by working closely with clients' management and Board of Directors. Stacy is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants.
Laurie D. Williams, CPA, CFE, CFF (Partner in Charge, Burlington Office) was born in Atlanta, Georgia, but grew up in North Carolina. She attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she earned her B.S. Degree in Business Administration. Laurie went on to obtain a Certificate of Study in Accounting from Guilford College. She joined DMJ in 1996, and is experienced in various areas of accounting, taxation, and litigation support. Laurie is dedicated to involvement in professional organizations including the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (NCACPA), where she currently holds a three-year position on the board of directors and previously served two consecutive terms as Chair of the Accounting and Attestation Committee. She is also a member of CPAmerica International’s Accounting and Auditing Executive Committee, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Laurie is a CPA Ambassador for the AICPA and an alumna of Leadership North Carolina. In addition to being licensed as a Certified Public Accountant, Laurie also holds the globally-preferred Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) credential, demonstrating knowledge in critical areas in the fight against fraud. She also holds the AICPA’s Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) designation. |
