Art Winstead is originally from Greensboro, NC where he graduated from Grimsley Senior High School. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business with a concentration in Accounting from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Art joined DMJ in 1978 and became a partner in 1984. He is a general services partner in the Greensboro office and is the firm-wide accounting and auditing partner. He serves as team captain and team member for on-site peer reviews throughout the country and state of North Carolina, as well as conducts off-site peer reviews within North Carolina. Art is the National Accounting and Audit Consultant for CPAmerica International and has also served as Chairman of the CPAmerica Accounting and Auditing Executive Committees.

His memberships include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. He recently served a three-year term on the AICPA Auditing Standards Board, in addition to serving six years on the North Carolina Board of CPA Examiners. On the Board of Examiners, he served as President and Vice President and Chairman of the Professional Standards, Audit and Personnel Committees. He is also a member of the North Carolina Association of CPA’s Peer Review Executive Committee.

Art is very active in community affairs. As examples: he is a life member of the Greensboro Jaycees; he is or has been active in scouting, the Greensboro One Task Force Committee, the American Cancer Society, the City of Greensboro Human Services Commission, the Community Development Commission, the Greensboro Transit Authority, the Greensboro Center City Committee, the Greensboro Coliseum Commission, the Greensboro Comprehensive Plan
Committee and many more. He is an active committee chairman at Guilford Park Presbyterian Church where he has also served as a Deacon and an Elder. He is also a member of the Greensboro 100 Club.

Art enjoys spending time with his wife Mary, daughters Mollie and Emma, and his immediate family. He is an avid golfer and often plays at Starmount Forest Country Club, where he currently serves as President.
