Laurie Williams was born in Atlanta, Georgia but grew up in North Carolina. She attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she earned her B.S. in Business Administration. Laurie went on to obtain a Certificate of Study in Accounting from Guilford College.

While attending college, Laurie worked in various areas of accounting, obtaining a strong background in bookkeeping and financial reporting. She joined DMJ in 1996, performing many of DMJ’s audits, reviews, and other attestation engagements.

Laurie is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants, and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. Laurie is a CPA Ambassador and an alumnae of Leadership North Carolina.

Laurie is active in the community and currently serves on the NCACPA’s Audit and Attestation and Work/Life Issues committees. She is also a Board Member and the Treasurer of Greenhill Center for North Carolina Art. Laurie has written various articles and made submissions to the NCACPA’s quarterly magazine, Interim Report. She has given various speeches and presentations to college and professional groups.

Laurie enjoys spending time with her husband, children and immediate family. Her interests include boating, scuba diving, and other outdoor activities.
