 David is a career human resources professional with broad generalist experience in all major human resources responsibilities. After earning a BA Degree in Business and Psychology, he worked in private industry with medium and large, multi-facility, multi-state businesses. His industry exposure includes manufacturing, service, transportation, apparel, textiles, retail, and automotive. He has worked in human resources at the plant, division, and corporate levels, with over half of his career being at the vice president level prior to joining Davenport, Marvin, Joyce & Co., LLP.
David has extensive internal and external consulting experience. He has managed the complete development and reorganization of human resources programs including staffing, policies, and benefits. In addition to his human resources experience, he obtained valuable line management experience when he held officer level responsibility for a large customer service group and full P&L responsibility for a $5 million retail division with locations in six states.
Throughout his career, David has maintained a regular schedule of continuing professional development. Included in that schedule are programs sponsored by institutions such as The American Management Associations, Stephen Covey Leadership Center, Clemson University, and the University of West Virginia. He received his Senior Professional in Human Resources ("SPHR") certification from the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) in January 2001. In 2004, he earned his Life, Health, Accident, Medicare Supplement and Long-Term Care Insurance Agent's License for the State of North Carolina. |
