Eric Panknin is originally from Havelock, NC. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and earned a B.A. in Radio, Television, and Motion Pictures. Upon graduation, he began his technical career with an audio visual staging and production company. A position at U.N.C.'s William and Ida Friday Continuing Education Center's computing lab eventually led Eric to leave the audio visuals field and pursue a career in network engineering.

Eric took a position as network administrator at an accounting firm in Burlington, NC, in 1998 and spent the next eight years advancing his skills and knowledge of computer networks and management. In this position, he consulted on client engagements to provide technology design, implementation, and support as well as managed an increasingly sophisticated network at his own office. In his pursuit of a more formal education in his field, Eric became a Certified Novell Administrator, Certified Citrix Administrator, and a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer. Eric also maintains the MCSE certification, which he has seen through three core network operating systems.

Eric enjoys his free time with his wife Christy and their two daughters Anna and Julia, as well as playing golf, fishing, cooking, and playing guitar.
